The album of Bohuslav Martinů’s string quartets No. 2, 3, 5, 7 made by the internationally acclaimed Pavel Haas Quartet, has been shortlisted for the Gramophone Awards 2026! The British classical music magazine Grahophone revealed the 66 recordings (6 in each of the 11 recording categories) that have been shortlisted for the Gramophone Classical Music Awards – presented with Presto Music – this year.
The Pavel Haas Quartet’s album received a superb review together with the Gramophone Editor’s Choice in 2025: “The Pavel Haas bring more than commercial visibility and brighter recorded sound to the table. Their playing is tauter, usually to the music’s advantage and with quite incendiary results in the Fifth, the masterpiece with which their selection begins… the Pavel Haas Quartet have come up with yet another unmissable release.”
The Pavel Haas Quartet has already received five Gramophone Awards for their recordings of Dvořák, Smetana, Schubert, Janáček, and Haas. For their recording of Dvořák’s String Quartets No. 12 “American” and No. 13, the Quartet was awarded the coveted Gramophone Recording of the Year in 2011.
The Shortlist will be reduced to three albums per category in the October issue of Gramophone, and the category winners will be revealed at the Gramophone Awards ceremony on October 7, 2026, in De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
